GLOW Center for Empowerment is a youth center in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, which was established in the fall of 2020 by PAH and its local partner, International Humanitarian Relief Lebanon, to support socio-economic development in the country. By empowering marginalized social groups, especially women and young adults, the center helps them enter the labour market and play an active part in positive changes in their communities. Thanks to co-financing within the framework of the Polish development cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland and support from PAH donors, the activities at the center were continued in 2021-2023.
In 2024, the Center will host a variety of training courses that will enhance the professional potential and develop personal skills and self-confidence among participants. Additionally, the Mobile Training Team will organize one-day sessions on building social cohesion, the need for peaceful coexistence between different groups within the country and mutual respect; the sessions will take place across Lebanon. These workshops will reach 800 people aged 10-17 from different parts of the country.
The following training courses will be held at the center:
- Photography course
- Crochet course
- Training in the installation of solar energy technologies
- Robotics and 3D printing course
- Administration course
- Training in maintenance of electronic equipment (computers, mobile phones)
The project will be continued in 2025-2026. There are plans for innovative activities that will allow participants to apply the knowledge acquired during training in practice. Such innovations include the creation of social initiatives in Module 2 of the project or the development of business initiatives in Module 3. PAH also plans to establish cooperation with educational institutions in order to raise the level of education of children and teenagers and modernize infrastructure by installing solar panels in two educational facilities.
