The project includes technical support for the construction of sand dams. PAH is working closely with ASDF on these activities. Key activities include:

• Conducting workshops for the field team prior to the start of construction;
• Preparation of feasibility study reports for 2 sand dams;
• Development of detailed designs and cost estimates.

The Anosy and Atsimo Andrefana regions of Madagascar have chronic problems with access to water and maintaining water security, especially in the face of a changing climate. These areas regularly experience prolonged periods of drought, affecting water availability for local communities. The construction of sand dams is a key solution that can help store rainwater and improve water availability during dry periods.
