We ensure the operation and development of mobile clinics in the West Bank to increase access to primary health care for communities most affected by the crisis.

Providing access to basic health services is a top priority for local communities in the West Bank in Zone C, where more than 170 locations lack permanent health clinics. For many residents journey to the nearest medical centre is very long and often requires significant detours to avoid Israeli settlements, roads and erected barricades.

This not only exposes patients and their families to great psychological stress, but also constitutes a huge financial burden for poor households, especially for families with members with disabilities or chronic diseases.

The aim of the project is to ensure the operation and development of mobile clinics to maintain uninterrupted access to health care for the communities in the West Bank most affected by the humanitarian crisis, which after 7 October 2023 must deal with living conditions more difficult than ever.

Together with local partners – CARE Palestine and Palestinian Medical Relief Society – PAH runs a project that improves accessibility and quality of medical services by creating mobile clinics that reach the most remote parts of Zone C. Doctors and professional rescue personnel provide basic assistance, conduct tests, and in more difficult cases refer patients to appropriate departments in larger health centres.

Some mobile teams consist only of women to make female patients more comfortable. The project also provides for a series of training courses for local residents, representatives of local councils as well as medical workers in mobile clinics and health centres. The topics to be covered include first aid, healthy living and appropriate help for victims of sexual violence. This increases the potential of local communities and medical centres.

Selected centres will also be renovated and adapted to the needs of women, girls and people with disabilities. They will also receive modern equipment for the treatment of chronic diseases and for the care of women before, during and after pregnancy.

Ail will reach approx. 28,000 people.

The project is co-financed as part of the Polish development cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland.
