The Polish Humanitarian Action was formed out of the desire to aid – a belief, that every human deserves dignity and help. Our organization believes in the power of welfare, which thanks to the support of other people, can move mountains.
The Polish Humanitarian Action was formed by Janina Ochojska, who has been inspired by the actions of the French organization Amitié Pologne, which aided the Polish during war. In 1992 Janina Ochojska, alongside the EquiLibre organization (organization formed out of the former Amitié Pologne) traveled to besieged Sarajevo. This travel brought upon the impulse to form the Polish Humanitarian Action. It was then, that the decision to send the first Polish humanitarian aid convoy to war-ridden Sarajevo was taken, after the breakup of Yugoslavia. The first convoy left Poland on December 26th 1992, and PAH began sending aid to other towns of former Yugoslavia, such as Belgrad and Kosovo. Some of the primary principles involved in the forming of our organization have included solidarity and the belief, that even if we ourselves need aid, we may always aid those who are in a worse situation than ours.
